Fall Session
Learning
how to belly dance takes time and practice. Some of the moves will come naturally and some may feel foreign at
first. But soon you will be able to isolate parts of your body and learn to control the movement of that individual part,
creating an illusion that is both beautiful and mesmerizing to watch.

True belly dancing tells a story or conveys a particular emotion. It takes many forms.
There's folkloric dancing, cabaret-style, Turkish, Egyptian, Lebanese, and others each unique in its own right.
It
is not, as some think, akin in any way to stripping. In fact, Middle Eastern dances are supposed to be family oriented. They
began, when women danced for each other in social situations just as we in this culture sometimes get up and dance at parties.
A belly dancer speaks to the audience through her movements. There is a great deal of gesturing with the upper body and
chest. Go to my belly dance students page to see more about how to belly dance.
Belly dancing is a good workout as well. The movements
work the entire body stretching and contracting the muscles around the abs, back and hips, increasing core strength.
Take a look at this web site featuring everything
to do with all forms of dance and with dance as an educational and health benefit. www.dance-in-our-footsteps.com
